This Week Is Historically Terrible. How Are You? 🦃

Hello Reader,

If you’re feeling the pressure of expectations, I just want to let you know that you’re not alone.

In my personal life, and even this newsletter, there are expectations.

Go to Thanksgiving at <insert a relative's home or your home>.

Send out a ton of emails to promote Black Friday.

To be honest, I don’t want to do either one of those things. 🤣 I wish you good health and keeping your cool with questionable family members.

Let's keep it easy today. Here is a roundup of programs, services, and random small business nuggets for you to bookmark.

LinkedIn Course

When I wrapped up this semester with the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses cohort, I noticed many of them were not active on LinkedIn. SO... here is Justin Welsh's LinkedIn course. A new acquaintance (whom I randomly met on LinkedIn) has been able to build out her personal brand because she invested in this course. Take a look. With her praise, I bought it. We'll see how it all works out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ClickFunnels Alternative

Many of you use ClickFunnels. One of the millionaire online business people I followed used to be on it. Then she and another woman partnered up and built out Funnel Gorgeous, on the GoHighLevel platform. I used it about two years ago. I liked it. It has a lot of bells and whistles and so much support.

AI

Meneske Stewart has (I think) white-labeled her AI program called Marketing Magic. I've used the trial and it is fantastic for marketers. Not so much for general AI use.

If you want to use something else, I'd recommend Copy.AI or Claude.AI, both of which I use and like. I also use ChatGPT, but that may change if its 700 employees quit.

With AI, you really do have to know what your goals are with it. Train it to help you.

POC Stock Images & Content ideation

I have renewed my Pixistock membership again. Alicia Powell does a great job at pulling in WOC stock imagery and has tons of templates if you want to create planners or calendars.

Sound

AI Jinglemaker is something to look at. Try this out if you need an intro or outro.

Newsletters

Lia Haberman's ICYMI continues to be a wealth of updated creator and social media news. If you are interested in this space, I highly recommend you pay $5/month for her newsletter so you can chat with other marketers in the space in her Slack channel.

On the flip side, if you don't like social media, Lex Roman's Low Energy Leads is a fantastic newletter to read. She puts out videos as well as newsletters that help you attract your target customers without social media.

Bits and Pieces

Trending

  • This calm/rave clip. Needs some editing with the audio. If Gordon Ramsay is doing it, I think you have about another week or two to do this with your team.

I walked a 5K last weekend, and it was a lot of fun doing it with a handful of friends whom I hadn't seen in almost a year.

Holiday stress is no joke. We have to deal with Q4 and personal life. The one thing to remember is that most of the time, it all shakes out OK. 99% of the time, you're going to live. It'll be ok if your turkey is dry. No one likes turkey anyway. It's all about dessert. :P

Have a pleasant long holiday.

Chris

Hello Reader, So I'm watching a TikTok about a young person sharing how you may want to search for a job, if you're looking for a job. She's spelling out quotes and ANDs. This is what's called a Boolean search. (Pronounced "boo-lee-en.") This type of search is how you make your Google searches more helpful, too. Let's go back to LinkedIn because while you may be an entrepreneur, your network might not be. Plus you may want to consider this as you hire more staff or influencers or creators....

Hello Reader, Happy Greenwashing Month! I mean, Earth Month. Katie Robert of Trust Insights wrote an article about the 5 Ps of marketing. I think we should take it on for micro and small business owners. Think of them as your compass. In my personal life, I try to answer this question: "Does it serve me? Will it take away time from my family?" For business, you can ask these questions to kick off your marketing planning. Purpose Start with 'why.' (This is a Simon Sinek book, btw.) Why does...

Hi Reader, Today I had two small businesses reach out and ask me about their websites. I ran through a quick review for each and the same problems existed - even for these two radically different small businesses. Here are some common problems I see and why you should stop doing these: Auto-played videos - I see we are starting off with murder. Just stop. It's annoyed everyone in 1998, it still annoys everyone in 2024. It makes me (a potential customer) close the tab and move on to something...
